Our Philosophy

Tieton Capital is an SEC-registered investment advisor.  We invest like owners, not traders, and aim to purchase the common stock of small, less known or out-of-favor companies with solid competitive positions, high-quality management, and identifiable catalysts to propel the business.

Before investing, the Tieton Investment Team performs detailed interviews with each prospective company’s management team.  Discussions with competitors, suppliers, and customers are held to enhance insights. 

We aim to develop unique and valuable perspectives on industry dynamics, business strategy, and potential investment catalysts through our “feet on the ground” approach.  Our team is passionate about the process, and relies solely on internal, proprietary research — “We Pack Our Own Parachute.” 

Our office is headquartered off the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains, in the heart of Washington apple and wine country.  This unique location helps us avoid the “noise on the Street” and focus on the most impactful factors.
